Accentuated: Ethnically Diverse Women

ready to STEP INTO YOUR Authentic leadership and shine as your unique self?

Do you experience any of the following as an ethnically diverse woman?

  • Have you ever been underestimated or passed over?

  • Have you ever been told that you need to be different to succeed? Or do you feel like you constantly need to prove your worth?

  • When things don’t work out, do you, out of habit, think about what you have done wrong or could have done more?

  • Are you unsure about your identity and how your cultural backgrounds might be your unique advantage?

  • Do you feel alone in what you are trying to achieve and wish there was a supportive community of equally driven and kick-ass women of colour?

Imagine a world where you shine as your unique and authentic self!

As an ethnically diverse woman myself, I understand the dual challenges we face with gender and culture. I also know what it feels like to be the only non-Pakeha woman in leadership positions. I know a lot of us often wish there are more role models like us. However, the representation statistics have not changed and we all know that true leadership starts with ourselves.

So I would like to invite you to become your own role model and step into your authentic leadership identity and power!

Introducing Accentuated

The 6-month Leadership programme where you will:

  • Define your authentic leadership and purpose, explore what makes you unique as a leader, and understand how your cultural backgrounds are an asset

  • Cultivate a confident mindset so that you are no longer battling with the imposter syndrome or any minimising self-talks and work habits

  • Shine brighter by learning to communicate your value clearly, influence fearlessly and handle stereotyping and racism

  • Expand your network and lead by example to build up the next generation of diverse leaders.

Unlike other leadership programmes, Accentuated is designed for you, an ethnically diverse woman leader, because we recognise the unique challenges you face and the value you bring.

By the end of six months, you will

  1. Be clear about who you are, what you stand for as an ethnically diverse woman leader

  2. Know what is your unique value, how to communicate and influence fearlessly and handle racism confidently

  3. Be on your way to leading initiatives within or outside of your organisation to grow the next generation of ethnically diverse women leaders.

Who is Accentuated suitable for?

Accentuated is suitable for ethnically diverse women who want to step into their authentic leadership identity and power.

You would have immigrated to NZ or have been born in NZ with an ethnic cultural background. You may be experts in a technical field or a people manager or leader or you are stepping into your first leadership role. You have been recognised by your organisation as having leadership potential or as being likely to influence and impact at a more senior level.

Structure

The 6-month programme includes:

  • Four full day in-person workshops

  • Three online group coaching sessions for in-between workshops

During the workshops, you will engage in group and peer coaching, be guided through transformative content and reflective exercises. You are expected to share and learn from your peers.

You will also have take-home challenges and structured self-learning. We will have an online community for your cohort for support, discussion and accountability. The time investment outside of the programme will be 1-2 hours a week.

Structure of Accentuated

  • Four in-person full day workshops over six months

  • Two online group coaching accountability sessions

Workshop 1: Define

This workshop focuses on exploring your authentic leadership identity. This includes discovering who you are as an ethnically diverse woman leader, what makes you unique, understanding how your family and cultural backgrounds are an asset and a powerful lens in leadership. You are invited to define your leadership narratives and re-examine what is possible.

Workshop 2: Cultivate

This workshop is on cultivating your confident mindset. It transforms you from feeling like an imposter to “Hey, I actually belong here and have unique value to add”. It delves into cultural backgrounds and beliefs which may be not serving you any longer. It is a master class in re-defining your mindset and invites you to show up as your own ethnically diverse leader and role model.

Workshop 3: Shine

Building on the previous two workshops, it explores the phenomenon of assimilation and how that impacts on your communication and influence. You are challenged to shine brighter by learning how to effectively self-advocate, influence and communicate while remaining authentic to self. This workshop also helps you to know the different types of support available, offered by mentors, sponsors and networks.

Workshop 4: Expand

This workshop builds on the content of the whole programme. You will reflect on your journey and share your learning. You will be challenged to acknowledge progress and set up processes and accountability going forward. You are also encouraged to invite your managers and other leaders along to a mini-workshop where you share learning and insights. There is also time for you to demonstrate your newly learnt leadership skills by engaging and growing the community of diverse women.

Three Online Group Coaching Accountability Sessions

These are online sessions that will be spaced out between the four workshops to ensure you get the support and accountability needed to ensure progress.
