Diversity Matters

In McKinsey and Company’s Diversity Wins 2020 Report, they found that companies with gender, ethnic, and cultural diversity, particularly within executive teams, continue to be correlated to financial performance across multiple countries worldwide. The report shows more diverse companies are better able to attract top talent, to improve their customer service, employee satisfaction, and decision making. In fact, that is what McKinsey hypothesises as driving the higher financial performance.

Companies with the most ethnically diverse executive teams are 36 percent more likely to outperform their peers on profitability.

Yet, there are several barriers that ethnically diverse women face when applying for or being in leadership positions:

  • Lack of role-modeling or mentorship

  • Self-doubt and feelngs of imposter syndrome

  • Not able to articulate her unique value

  • Not able to influence authentically

  • Feelings of being alone.

This is where Accentuated comes in where the light is shone on ethnically diverse women and they are invited to step into their authentic leadership identity and power.

Introducing Accentuated

The 6-month Leadership programme where Your ethnically diverse women will:

  • Define her authentic leadership and purpose, explore what makes her unique as a leader, and understand how her cultural backgrounds are an asset

  • Cultivate a confident mindset so that she is no longer battling with the imposter syndrome or minimising self-talks and work habits

  • Shine brighter by learning to communicate her value clearly, influence fearlessly and handle stereotyping and racism

  • Expand her network and lead by example to build up the next generation of diverse leaders.

  • Four in-person full day workshops over six months

  • Three online group coaching accountability sessions

Workshop 1: Define

This workshop focuses on exploring participants’ authentic leadership identity. This includes discovering who she is as an ethnically diverse woman leader, what makes her unique, understanding how her family and cultural backgrounds are an asset and a powerful lens in leadership. She is invited to define her leadership narratives and re-examine what is possible.

Workshop 2: Cultivate

This workshop is on cultivating participants’ confident mindset. It transforms her from feeling like an imposter to “Hey, I actually belong here and have unique value to add”. It delves into cultural backgrounds and beliefs which may be not serving her any longer. It is a master class in re-defining the participant’s mindset and invites her to show up as her own ethnically diverse leader and role model.

Workshop 3: Shine

Building on the previous two workshops, it explores the phenomenon of assimilation and how that impacts on participants’ communication and influence. She is challenged to shine brighter by learning how to effectively self-advocate, influence and communicate while remaining authentic to self. This workshop also helps her to know the different types of support available, offered by mentors, sponsors and networks.

Workshop 4: Expand

This workshop builds on the content of the whole programme. Participants will reflect on their journey and share learning. They will be challenged to acknowledge progress and set up processes and accountability going forward. They are also encouraged to invite managers and other leaders along to a mini-workshop where learning and insights are shared. There is also time for participants to demonstrate their leadership skills by engaging and growing the community of diverse women.

Three Online Group Coaching Accountability Sessions

These are online sessions that will be spaced out between the four workshops to ensure participants get the support and accountability needed to ensure progress.
